" The School of Escamotage " par Anna Romanenko et Matteo Locci

Gathering around the magician's hat that is doomed to stay empty we will research, invent and perform techniques of disappearance. Looking for the real of the illusion –  that might betimes be the hidden technique or the affective effect – the aim of the workshop is to pin down mechanisms of the apparent and tackle its potential for the dis-apparent. Forging old spaces into new ideas requires a leap of faith, or perhaps, some component of the miraculous, a reconfiguration of the gaze, rearrangement of bodies and the invention of props that facilitate transformation. The workshop is part of a collaboration between the artist collectives Ati-Suffix and Verlag für Handbücher and will result in the production of artist books and events in Italy and Germany in 2020 and 2021.
